Bobcat Trail Golf & Country
Club in North Port
has a championship course with home sites
bordering the manicured greens and fairways. The
design takes advantage of native vegetation,
gracious oaks, towering pines and tropical
foliage, and has been compared to northern courses
because of the undulation of the fairways
Sabal Trace Golf & Country Club
in North Port
is a 50
year old semi-private golf course features a
championship, 18-hole course designed by architect
Charles Ankrom. The greens and fairways of this
course are well maintained, and water comes into
play on every hole.
Riverwood Golf and Country
Club in Port Charlotte is a Golf Digest four-star
championship course. This course's fairways vary
in width and are lined with thick rough and trees.
The course's terrain is basically flat, but there
are some small hills that can affect your lies.
Heron Creek Golf & Country
Club in North Port winds through the Heron Creek
master-planned community. Designed by Arthur
Hills, this parkland-style course has rolling,
tree-lined fairways, playing to medium-sized
greens (averaging 6,500 square feet each) that are
generally flat and moderate in speed.
Plantation Golf & Country
Club in Venice has two eighteen hole regulation courses. The
Panther Course features two island greens. All the
greens are slightly sloped and protected by small
pot bunkers, and the fairways are tree lined. The
Bobcat Course was built on rolling terrain and has
water hazards coming into play on several holes.
Pelican Pointe Golf & Country
Club in Venice has a 27 hole championship golf
course that winds through neighborhood homes and
nature preserves which offer players rare glimpses
of Florida wildlife and scenery.
Burnt Store Marina & Country
Club in Punta Gorda has three executive nine hole
courses that are played in three eighteen hole
combinations. The courses were cut out of the
woods and are scenic. The courses are located
within a marina community, which has many dining
facilities and shops. |
